What is terminal 1,4 & 6 used for in a BT socket?
Obviously 2,3 & 5 are the main connections

1, 4 and 6 have no use in a domestic installation. The wire for pin 3, the ring wire, is also no longer used and best disconnected as it can introduce interference to your internet.0

Are you saying I should only connect to 2 & 5?
You only need 2 and 5, you've only ever needed 2 and 5 at a minimum. 3 maybe for legacy installations/phones (that physically rang, ie a bell ringer inside the phone itself) but is largely depreciated with modern phones and 4 was only ever wired up to make the connection block look neat, it didn't actually do anything.0 -

Is the correct answer (for domestic installations).0 -

The word you're looking for here and elsewhere is "deprecated". Although I suspect here a more appropriate term is "not required" unless there has been some guidance from Openreach regarding its use.Neil_Jones wrote: »As a general rule the C++ runtimes are all the same but functionality may have been replaced, depreciatedNeil_Jones wrote: »Now all of that being said, Disk Cleanup is actually depreciated as of v1809.Neil_Jones wrote: »Please don't use Internet Explorer on Windows 10, its depreciatedNeil_Jones wrote: »Internet Explorer is still there but heavily depreciated.Neil_Jones wrote: »Windows 7 is depreciated for a start0
