Redundancy and having 6 weeks before starting new role

Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have been made redundant as of tomorrow (22nd Nov 2019) and start my new role on the 6th Jan 2020.
I have been told i may be eligible for a tax rebate if i am out of work for more than 4 weeks.
Do i claim this or would it be automatic at the end on the financial year?
Cheers in advance
Geoff

Tax rebate has nothing to do with length of time out of work.
It's tax paid over the year.
I suspect what they mean sis that your adjusted income vs tax paid may be ut of proportion to the estimate by HMRC.
You can call HMRC in April (or before if you want) to reclaim it. I'd wait until april so you have final figures.0 -

As long as you give P45 to new employer, and depending on your tax code, any refund should be automatic through new employers payroll.0 -
Should be able to claim JSA.0
