Oh ok sorry I misunderstood your post
yes if it was just an ordinary payment then some banks allow you to convert that to a standing order but other banks don't
i agree with you it should definitely be possible to do it and annoying that Santander don't do it mind you I find a lot of what Santander does annoying so no surprise there!
what I normally do when setting up a standing order is two double triple quadruple check the numbers!0 -
Hiya 18CC,
No, the test payment of £1.23 was not a standing order, but an ordinary one-off payment, but thanks for your reply.
Given the post by soulsaver, I reckon the Santander software has a glitch in it. I have tried to explain the problem to them - don't know if they have the nous to log a system fault - maybe they will, maybe they won't.
Best wishes,
LinW13
If Santander have a glitch in their system then they will just deny it.
They aren’t very bright sometimes.0 -
I tend to agree with the OP. Why don't banks implement systems to do what customers want?
What I have often done is to set up the test payment as a standing order. It does mean waiting until the next day for the first payment to happen, before proceeding. However, usually it is possible to change the amount of an existing standing order without re-entering the payee details, thus accomplishing what you wanted. If the first payment goes wrong, you can just cancel the SO and start again.0 -

Would you care to elaborate, please?
Many banks have some good and some bad features. Of course, different customers might well put a particular feature on different lists - or have no real preference - according to what kinds of things they do often or never. You may well have a different preference from me, and that's fine. I'm not sure why you feel the need to be rude about it, though.0
