Speeding ticket for sold car

Hi everyone, I'm new here and wanted to make sure I get things right with this problem.
So I sold my car on Facebook on the 16/11/19 and the guy who bought it turned up around 7pm to do the sale. He was in the trade, so he filled the correct part in and left me the yellow section of the v5.
After he left I went online to complete the bought/sold but it was after 7pm so the service was shut.
I got online the next morning and completed the bought/sold, stating the vehicle was sold on the 16th.
Today I have received a speeding ticket for 49mph in a 40 zone at 21:20 on the 16th, I also received a slip from the dvla notifying me that the new log book was printed on 17/11/19.
So, does this mean I am liable for the fine or the trader?
Thank you :)

This forum focusses on Parking issues, you would be better going to a forum called Pepipoo HERE, where you will find the help you need. Do not try to register with a Hotmail account.

How can you be liable for someone else speeding? You want to take his fine and points?

Name the trader on the form.

bear in mind that you must not take points etc on anyone else's behalf, there have been a few high profile cases where that's not turned out so well

You are not responsible for this offence, just follow the instructions on the form.
