Have just purchased this via Amazon & was alerted when I rec'd two order confirmations: one for Office at half the total order value & one for McAfee for the other half (sold by Amazon Media EU S.à r.l.).
I don't intend to download & install the antivirus.
I wonder now whether McAfee can gain my credit card details & they will auto renew in 12 mths time at the (inflated) full price.

This reads like a spam but I will give you the benefit of the doubt...
1. office 365 is a subscription based service, meaning is costs money on a regular basis; not a very MSE-friendly product; a one-off purchase is recommended if you must have Microsoft Office, otherwise a free open-source product is generally good enough.
2. McAfee is also a subscription-based service; paying for anti-virus for home use is not generally required; and McAfee is not very popular. There are a number of free anti-virus products which are good enough.
Regarding your question about McAfee having access to your credit card details. The answer is no.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Did you pay £44.99? Missed the Argos offer for £39.99
Don't worry, neither MS nor McAfee have your card details for auto renew. What you got are activation keys for the services. It's up to you whether to extend them or not at the end.
Sell The McAfee for a fiver on e-bay if you are not going to use it.0 -
Thanks for the replies. "reads like a spam"? Just conscious of how cunning these software people can be to get you trapped in a loop.
Paid £46. Yes I missed the Argos offer by what must have been a day.
Have already got Norton - with the auto renew disabled.0 -
for £53 would rather buy this with physical CDs

£29 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Office-Student-Windows-Multilingual-language/dp/B07YX59F7N/
Unsure if you can convert a German version to English 29.90 Euros

Apparently you can also download the installable from MS, but what is granted one day, may no longer be there when office 2020 comes out.

For businesses that can write off subscription hit against tax, rather than yearly asset depreciation, 365 makes sense. For home use, going back to a rental tv model, which very little is probably modified (its been around for 30 years and they must have already added most of the features by now and removed the bugs too just milking the name by adding another year to the title) makes very little sense to me.0
