Anyone have infrared heaters in their house?

I need to install new heaters in my flat and am considering going for infrared heaters rather than radiators. I don't have gas, so electric is my only option. Does anyone have any experience with infrared heaters and do you like them? Are they suitable for an open plan space?
Thanks
Thanks

I think they're probably a bit "harsh" for use as everyday heaters. They produce a very hot, direct heat. Oil-filled radiators, by contrast, heat by radiation and convection. They provide better "background warmth" rather than directional heat. They usually have timers and thermostats as well, so can end up being cheaper to run.
When it comes to thermal efficiency, all heaters are equally efficient, so don't be swayed by marketing telling you one type is more efficient than another. Where things like storage heaters and oil-filled radiators can end up being more economical is because of the ability to program them and use their thermostats.0 -
