Why didn't Corbyn win by a country mile?

With a tiny bit of anticipation & some clear thinking he should have smashed it out of the park.

When BoJo asked ( and kept on asking) about his position on Brexit, he could have turned a perceived weakness into an incredible strength.

He should have turned "sitting on the fence" into a statesman like position of neutrality on the basis that the country is already in a dire situation caused by looking at people simply as being no more than Remainers or Leavers.

His future Government would negotiate a new EU trade deal based on whatever was best for the economy of the country.

His would then be put to a second referendum with the Government's official position being "Here are the facts. Whatever you decide based on current information, we will enact.

That would stop him immediately alienating half of the voters, allowing sensible discussion without accusations of bias & removes the need for MPs to vote against their consciences to have to stick to a party line.

He could have said that there would still be campaign groups for leaving or remaining but the would not be part of an official Government policy or arranged along party lines.

Inform, Educate & allow a free vote whilst being able to make sure that BOTH campaigns stuck to telling the truth. Ensure that the pros & cons of both outcomes are truthfully discussed & reported.

It also removes the idea that a certain amount of people voted for or against simply based on whether they wanted their party to win or if they had voted a certain way just as a protest to give the Government of the day a kicking.

Once he has established this position, then every time Johnson tried making the debate solely about Brexit, Corbyn could have attacked him on the Conservative record after over 9 years in power. No wonder Johnson didn't want subject front & centre.

Because he's not up to the job. Spent too many years in the shadows for good reason. Certainly not a Statesman. Corbyn needs Brexit for Labours policies to come to fruition.
  • Absolutely no reason why the debate should not have had the leaders of the 4 or 5 largest political parties

But then, absolutely no reason to have televised political debate spectacles like the Yanks

The BBC can do one, in any case

That would have just turned into a shouting match.

Even just these two struggled to speak one at a time.

Too many words to digest for the average voter.
'Getting Brexit done' is much catchier.
Sad state of affairs, I know, but that's how it is.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

US politics has arrived. With the likes of Gina Miller funding the Lib Dems to take every matter to court when she doesn't like something.

Get Brexit Done is the biggest lie that has ever been written on the side of a bus.

Johnson has already said that if the new EU trade deal is not complete by Dec 2020' , he will walk away.

No Deal is still firmly on the table. Especially if he needs a few Brexit Party votes to prop him up.

Bit like Labours policy we will give you a referendum with a choice of remain or Brexit in name only.

Or the LibDems, in a coalition there'll be a peoples vote, if they have a majority Government there'll be no Brexit. Seems as if democracy has died. If you disagree with the majority don't respect it. We'll continually move the goalposts to suit our political views.

He covered the sitting on the fence bit with "We will bring people together", he has been banging on about that for ages now, problem is it is all waffle, people can see that the whole thing just needs to come to a head and something needs to happen, No Deal would be the best bet by far now, the EU would be round the table again in days if not hours.
  • Because two Es in his A Levels despite private school. He is just plain thick. He is possibly the stupidest LotO ever.

Kinnock may have been stupider but it would be close.
