    15 degrees ?

The following is from the Main Policy Clauses requirement ofthe 'Unoccupied Insurance' I recently had on my mothers house

"Between 1st October and 1st April the water system must be turned off at the mains and drained or the central heating system left on at a constant (not timed) minimum temperature of 15 degrees centigrade.

    OP, here.
The boiler is a Ferroli Optimax HE 180V
How did I choose 15 degrees? - Finger in the air/[un]educated guess

If you don't have a separate thermostat in the house, there may be a temperature control on the boiler itself. I know my old boiler didn't have a separate thermostat, I just had a very basic dial that ranged from hot to cold, and I eventually learned whereabouts on the dial various temperatures were, by using a thermometer in the hallway.

I was away for a couple of weeks when it was very cold last winter and just left the heating at 7c. It was fine.

Out of interest, who did you go with? I found few insurers would even quote, including the existing insurer. We went with Gallagher AJG dot com who are a broker. Only real policy requirements are drain system or keep heated and check property every two weeks keeping a record of visits. Does also mention retaining utility bills in event of a claim.
