Booking an NYC Holiday

I stayed in New York a few years ago, but reeeally want to go again...what does anyone think about self catered rentals? Would they be cheaper? I'm looking at these websites at the moment... www.holidaylettings.co.uk, www.pureholidayhomes.com.

IMHO you will have a much better time (and spend a fraction of the money) if you get an apartment in Brooklyn through airbnb. You can get decent self-catering accommodation for $50 a night easily (plus you can save even more money by not eating out every meal!). And depending on where you stay in Brooklyn you can be in Manhatten in 10 minutes on the subway.
