Credit applications when I earn less than my partner

I was starting to apply for credit (paypal) this morning when I could see the numbers did not add up. My income, minus total mortgage and total bills... and it looks on paper as if I have no money left over. But in real terms my partner earns twice as much as me, so I only pay a third of the mortgage and bills, and have around £1000 left each month. I was therefore alarmed to see that it looks on paper that I have no cash left to make credit repayments. I'm quite worried how that impacts on whether I will be accepted for credit. I abandoned that application fearful of a decline response and potential damage to my currently very good credit score. Any experience or knowledge on applying for credit under these circumstances?

Why put the total mortgage cost down if you only pay 1/3?0

First, don't worry about your score, it's neither seen nor used by lenders.
But if you only pay 1/3 of the bills, put that figure down as your outgoings. As long as you are truthful in stating what your income and outgoings are, you'll be fine. The lenders will make a decision based on that.0 -
Ignore any "damage to a very good credit score".
Credit scores aren't used by lenders and mean nothing in the real world.
Does it also ask for partners salaries etc?
Does it ask for just your share of mortgage payments or the total?0 -
Does this credit application not ask total household income or other household income?
What is the exact wording in regard to outgoings? What exactly is asked?
If you have a very good score this can't be your very first application for credit. What did you do in the past?0
