Ford Makes One Thing Very Clear About New Electric Vehicles - Specifically, how much will they cost?

On the topic of EV prices, Farley added they will range from $20,000 to $70,000, and that four North American assembly facilities have been assigned future EV production.

They might be seen as green, but Teslas are like elephants – they never forget

The Germans do seem to have it in for Tesla

It concludes that “in many respects, Tesla’s processing of data, such as in its Model 3, infringes European privacy and consumer protection rules.” (p. 31; this and all subsequent quotations are translations of the German). From a violation of Art. 5(1)(b) GDPR due to a failure to specify precisely the purposes of data processing, to Tesla’s disregard for its information obligations under Art. 13 and 14 GDPR, the report lists numerous violations of the General Data Protection Regulation that came into force in May 2018. Consequently, it seems questionable whether Tesla’s vehicles should be allowed on European roads at all.

Tesla Is A Data Company At Worst

This article is about the potential for new income streams from the data Tesla collects.

Following on from a previous post about concern expressed in Germany over GDPR this comment might interest some civil libertarians.

Tesla can already record everything a consumer says, including in-car conversations, texts and calls.

The article points out that GM received some criticism for collecting similar data in the past.

This caught my eye, as it shows that solutions for BEV fleet operators are being considered and developed, something that will be needed more and as we move forward.

    Proterra Unveils High-Powered Charging Stations

Proterra is well known for being a pioneer in the electric bus market in the United States. After years of being hyper-focused on that tech solution, the company has just expanded out into high-power charging stations.

The high-power charging stations are targeted at serving the needs of large-scale vehicle fleets, such as mass transit operators.

So, how high is the power? An individual charging station may as well be called a megacharger, but there’s a lot of flexibility with regards to each charger. “Proterra’s new charging systems can be configured at a broad range of power levels,” the company highlights. Charging level options range from 75 kilowatts to 150 kilowatts to 250 kilowatts to 500 kilowatts.

“For large fleets of vehicles, where customers need to address the challenge of charging dozens or hundreds of vehicles in a single fleet yard, Proterra’s new charging systems can be configured with up to 1.5 megawatts to power up to 20 vehicles simultaneously. The new Proterra 1.5 megawatt fleet-scale charging system can also tie directly into higher voltage utility power lines (up to 35kV) which avoids the footprint and complication of costly switchgear.

“The new chargers utilize interoperable, universal charging technology and are equipped to power a diverse range of 100% battery-electric vehicles, including battery-electric transit buses, school buses, delivery vans, coach buses, and other commercial vehicles. The chargers are also capable of powering personal passenger electric vehicles.”

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
