Non fault claims
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice regarding a non fault claim.
I was reversed into when I was parked (I wasn't in the car) and I'm using an accident management company to pursue the costs for repair as I'm entirely not at fault and the third party has said this.
It's looking like my car will be written off meaning I will need a new car. When I get this new car, do I have to tell my insurance about the non fault claim even though its went through an AMC?
This is the first time I've ever been involved in any sort of accident so I'm unsure how it all works.
Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks,
Andy

Yes, you must inform your insurer, tell them it is "for information only" as you are claiming through an ambulance chaser.
They need this information so that they can increase the price of your policy at renewal, to reflect your increased risk, ( as you are parking where someone can crash into you.) When you then shop around for insurance, you must declare this accident when they ask about "Any accidents, claims or losses in the last 5 years"I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Yes you will have to inform them and unfortunately your premium is likely to increase a little as statistically you are more likely to be involved in an accident if you have had one already. Don't ask me how they work that out!
I was involved in a non fault accident earlier this year and despite calling my insurer (Admiral), I was still referred through Auxillis, an AMC. This was all arranged whilst I was stood on the side of the road by myself having just been spun around at 40mph so I didn't know much about what was going on but luckily they were very good. Admiral still required the full details of the incident but my NCD hasn't been affected, I didn't have to pay my excess and my renewal quote 4 months later wasn't significantly higher than it had been. Might have helped that Auxillis were able to recover the full costs of the repairs etc from the third party insurer (approx £5k) before it came time to renew. I subsequently left Admiral because I wasn't happy with how they had passed me on to an AMC with little to no explanation but aside from that the ordeal wasn't too stressful.0 -
OP, a few years ago I was insured with Kwik Fit. When my car was hit by another and a no-faulty claim, they put me on to a claim handling company who sorted everything out. I didn't notice any change to my next premium as a result, just had to note a non-fault claim on any subsequent searches. Didn't stay with Kwik Fit long, because they doubled the renewal quote the year after.0

Hi everyone, I ended up just explaining the situation to my insurer ESure, and they informed me that it only has to go down as 'notification only' which shouldn't effect my premium. They said that this is different from non-fault claim etc as its not been a claim through them at all, but I don't know how I can actually put in a 'notification only' incident when looking to renew, as ive never seen that option on price comparison sites? Looks like I'll probably have to phone a few places directly this time
Also, thanks everyone for getting back to me; good to know lots of other people have went through the same thing as I was apprehensive at the time!0 -
It will need declaring on renewal because the third party's insurer will have recorded the details of the claim on the MIB database.

Just put it down as a non fault accident, which is what is it. As long as you put down its a non fault with all costs settled when you renew you will get the minimum loading, if any.0
