O/S Daily Tuesday 19 November 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, cold and frosty start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I had baked fish and veg. I remembered to get the beef out to defrost overnight, so that will be going into the slow cooker shortly I'll put a bit of everything in with it so we have the main part of the meal once I get in tonight, I'll just use up the LO veg from Sunday's roast, and add anything else that's needed.
Work yesterday was a slow start as the technology wasn't working and it was into the afternoon before they had got it working again. So we had a very busy spell. Today I'm working at the other office and on my earlier finish.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It looks super frosty outside as far as I can make out and - 2 deg. Another rubbish night's sleep for me, just as I thought I was sleeping a bit better I am back at square one.
Being Tuesday it's my day for meeting my oldest buddy for coffees. lunch and much talking. I want to nip in Poundland on my way to our rendezvous but no doubt we'll have a wander of a couple of other shops afterwards.
I had a text from DS's partner to say the pretty light up twig tree I had ordered from her new shop had arrived, so need to detour there as well.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad and recuperating who need them. A wave to our friends MIA. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Brrr it was very cold last night and it is still frosty outside. I did actually wake up one of the times in the night sweating though as my new duvet is very cosy.
It's my busy day today with the nurses coming to do a doppler scan on me to see if I can still use my stockings. Then this afternoon I have my mental health worker coming and he is bringing a 'benefits lady' to help us sort out where we go from here. Steve is still on compassionate leave from work but obviously we have no income from there so we are surviving on my PIP and some Child Tax Credits. Thank goodness Steve got money from his PPI claim, he bought a car with it but there is still a bit left for emergencies.
My lovely sister is coming to see me after work as well and it will be great to catch up with the family news. I have my fingers crossed that none of these visitors overlap or it could get a bit awkward as well as crowded.
The physio rehab team came to see me yesterday and were thoroughly impressed at the speed I can get upstairs now. Steve has to clear the bedroom of boxes and dining room bits and pieces and then I can hopefully go back to sleeping upstairs. I will admit to loving the bed downstairs with the fancy schmancy electric controls but it is not the same as sleeping in your own bed with your husband next to you.
I think we are having pork loin steaks covered in stuffing mix for dinner with lots of vegetables and gravy. I have also ordered chicken and mince to come in the next shop as I want to start cooking again. I definitely want to make a lasagne, a chilli and some garlic mushroom chicken. I am sure one of the kids will help me.
Right, I have waffled on for long enough, hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing, take care xx0 -
Morning :hello:
redruby I hope Evie is OK, and that you stayed pain free at work x
You're very busy dumpling I hope you're finding time to relax too x
The washing machine wasn't taken away til last night, it was supposed to go on sunday. I couldn't wait any longer to clean properly so started tidying around it while shuffling it about a bit, lol. The rooms downstairs are arranged properly now, though that might change next month when I start flinging the Christmas decorations around
I've put some washing on, there's another load waiting and I need to clean the paw prints off the kitchen floor. I've ended up with a spare tall bookcase so I might spend the afternoon in my little room, rearranging it and finally making it into my own little haven

Morning all
Brrrr cold and frosty here this morning the cars are thick with ice, time for my big winter coat I think.
Work yesterday was relatively pain free till the last 1/2 hr or so then my foot started hurting but its so much better than it was, long may it continue !!
I think we are having pasta for dinner tonight with salad and garlic bread not really the weather for salad but it needs eating and I do love salad.
Will go and check the birds water before I got to work as its bound to have frozen over so will give them some fresh.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Hello from the house of lurgy. We're both coughing for England and I'm sending Steve off to get his chest listened to just in case. Whatever this bug was it has hit us both really hard, my temp shot up yesterday but I think it broke last night and I'm feeling quite a bit better this morning.
Sister-in-law is coming today so I have to make a bit of an effort, much as I don't want to. Tomorrow we'll go down to see Laura, Brian and Esben, I cant wait and hopefully Steve will be well enough to come as well. Esben seems to be sleeping very well, he wants to feed all evening but then goes down about midnight and sleeps for 5 or 6 hours so Laura and Brian are grateful for that. They had an evening of colic last week, caused mainly by their inexperience I think but he's been fine since then. Brian thought colic was a chest complaint when I suggested that might be why he was crying!0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Thick frost here today, Beano has had a walk and Steve has a cuppa in bed.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning, the temperature has crept up over the past couple of hours and now it is 0°. Yesterday's idea of putting the washing out was singularly unproductive - it was lovely and sunny but no breeze so it probably dried by about 5%.
I am watching frozen leaves falling from the trees, and birds looking for grubs - they have eaten the food I put out at first light.
Great
At to hear that Hers, Dumpling and redruby are recovering well.
I s.lept reasonably well last night but someone kept removing the duvet from my feet so I ended up getting up and putting on fluffy socks. The heating is on for the moment but will go off soon, so I'll be wearing lots of layers and keeping warm by doing boring jobs.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning,
My goodness it's a cold one today. I felt my face was not long getting 'frostbit' (have you seen the video of the Northern Irish boy, from years ago, talking to reporters about the weather? His strong accent makes it difficult to understand and he became a viral sensation. YouTube "Frostbit" and it's the first thing that comes up, if you fancy a chuckle). No gym this morning on account of me being shattered this morning, more so than usual. I'll see if I can pop in tonight but I've a busy night ahead.
Managed to go home after work yesterday to tidy up, make dinner and get back out to yoga. A really good/hard class and felt better for it afterwards - as I always do.
dumpling - you sounds in high spirits and are clearly on the mend too. Long may that continue.
Snoozer - funnily enough, I had to google Colic myself! Hope you both feel better soon0 -
Good morning, there's a hard frost here but it's sunny.
Glad to see you're doing well dumpling, and you sound busy Tru.
Gers, hope you are all right.
i should have been busy yesterday, but couldn't seem to get myself going. I just kept going into rooms with the intention of tidying, wandered about a bit yawning, then deciding I couldn't be bothered, A disgraceful way to go on!
Anyway I seem to have brightened up a bit this morning. I've got a hospital appt , so I can't go to tai chi as usual.
We had Dgd as usual yesterday, she's still making Christmas cards. We're moving on to crackers for the family next week.
Glad your foot is less painful RR, and hope you enjoy your day TA
Snoozer, hope you and Steve soon feel better.
Hope everyone has a good day today anyway - take care folks0 -
Morning all,and a lovely one it is too.I've put some bird food out and unfrozen Ly1as water bowl- for some reason she prefers her outside bowl to the one inside. The ice on it was pretty thick! She loved rolling round on the park's frosty grass earlier ;)Nmlc you seem to have quite a few techy problems at work
I ended up downstairs on the sofa- I'd only been in bed half an hour when Ly1a was wuffing, she'd scratched her ears and made 1 bleed so I put her drops in.As DH was already snoring and she'd woken up DS2 too ,it was easier to stay down
Aunties funeral yesterday, which went well, lots of older ladies in church, she was very involved there.Bit of a long drawn out process as after that service we went on to the crematorium and then back to a local golf club for some hot food.Didn't know many people apart from her daughters, but spoke to a few people so it was ok.
My DB1 is calling near lunchtime today, to bring DGS birthday card and also a toy box lid he wants DS1 to decorate with their grandsons name. Better have a tidy up then :rotfl:
Hope you all have a nice day- glad to hear you sounding much better dumpling! Hope the lurgy leaves fast snoozer xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
