Been refused an account on a poor credit rating I don't have.

I'm trying not to be harsh but why exactly did you decide to pay CIFAS £25 for this protective registration? You must have been made aware that it would cause, at the very least, applications to be referred for the additional checks, whatever the additional checks actually consist of, to be made. That was surely the purpose of the registration.
You are correct of course that this protective registration should cause delays and additional checks but not outright refusals
I was happy for the additional checks - but that is not what we encountered. My husband applied to Goldman Sachs for a savings account and was refused - I then applied and was accepted, He then applied to Ping it and was refused and then so was I. The protective maker is still on his account - I thinking he should ask to have it removed? We are very financially careful - this has all been a bit of an eye opener - I feel swindled by the very people we have paid to protect us.0 -

In your OP you say the CIFAS marker was put on your bank account. But surely it was put on your credit files?
You say that you asked your bank to remove it. But you say that you paid CIFAS £25 yourself for the protective registation. So if you put it there, how could your bank remove it? I am confused.
It is also unclear if you were actually bthe victim of identity fraud or if this was just paranoia.0 -

The bank applied one and so did I. The one I applied was put on my husbands account because the car I was trying to tax was in his name.0 -

I feel conned by both the internet scammers and Cifas.
HMRC don't deal with road tax. That is DVLA.
But you keep avoiding the question of WHY?
WHY did the bank apply one? Why did you then pay to apply another one?
And what has car tax to do with anything? Why did you find it necessary to pay £25 to CIFAS to place a protective registration on his credit files because you wanted to tax his car? Not even sure you are allowed to place a protective registration on somebody else's credit files even if that person is your husband.0 -

So it was the DVLA - I'm not a troll - I'm not deliberately feeding you false information - although I assume that is your first thought - it is simply not true in this case. Why haven't I given you my life story...because I don't need to.0 -

Barclays have not refused you a current account though. So what's the problem?0 -

The “rating” you see online is not the same “rating” that a lender talks about.0
