Xone Phone - is it for real and is it any good?

Hi all

First post for some time. Am in the market for a new mobile phone and saw this advertised on youtube in between music tracks - https://youtu.be/ZNWTwl5EV4s

Then google led me to sites like these:
https://gadgetniche.com/xone-phone/
https://theravingtrends.com/xone-phone-review/
https://zesthoard.com/xone-phone/

And yet it doesn't seem to be on more mainstream ones like techradar.com or trustedreviews.com.

Just wondered if anyone has bought one or otherwise had any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Spec sounds rubbish for the price tag

never heard of this brand. No idea on future updates.

    Good luck

All 3 of those 'review' sites you list have the same exact 'review'. I highlighted 'review' due to the fact that it's not really one. The phone itself is really poor spec and I wouldn't pay half of the 'bargain' price they're trying to sell it for.

I saw this as a Facebook ad recently. I looked at the spec and price and thought ... meh, it's just hype and baloney ... a Moto G6 would be as good, a Moto G7 would be better for the same money.

All - thanks a lot. The youtube ad talked about it being £159 but the whole thing obviously triggered my 'this doesn't look right' instincts if I was motivated to put this post up.

@Colin_Maybe - quite right what you say about those 3 sites.

So if you were wanting to go down the SIM-only route, for your money which do you think is currently the cheapest-but-best smartphone?

Read the reviews for the Xiaomi Mi A3. We have a Mi A2 and a Mi A2 lite, which are very good for the money. The cheapest source seems to be euglobalcentral, but I found they listed phones as in stock that they didn't actually have. At least they refunded promptly when asked. Next cheapest were techinthebasket who shipped promptly, but my second purchase was lost in the post and they had no more stock.

If you don't mind last years model, there are some Mi A2s listed on ebay for about £100 described as "opened but never used". I bought one described in that way and it arrived in perfect condition, so I might take a risk on another if I was looking.

+1 for Xiaomi - they currently have a promotion on the Redmi 7 which is a decent budget option

I currently have a Xiaomi Mi8 which is fab for the price. If you're in the £400 market, the Mi9T / pro looks fantastic

Fair warning... Their website isn't always the easiest to navigate! https://event.mi.com/uk/blackfriday2019/sales

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G is around 270 at eglobalcentral
  • All - lovely, thanks for the heads-up guys (and gals!)

Last question - if I go for any of these recommended phones, are there likely to be any issues with them being locked to any particular network? I was probably going to stay with EE, but might/will want to be able to use other SIM cards overseas.
