Ford KA problems need help
Hey,
This is my first post so go easy on me.
I am struggling to find time to get to a garage with work etc so want to quickly ask here before incase anyone has any information.
I have a 2008 ford KA with over 55 miles on the clock. I am noticing a more obvious vibration when idle or stopped and when I look for the bite the whole car vibrates as if it's aboutto stall so I have to add more gas. This often ends in a tire spin type start off again
Does anyone have any advice. Do you think it's my clutch or something else completely?
Thank you.

We wont be able to diagnose fault and suggest a cause of action to fix the problem. Find time to get it to the nearest garage, just part of car ownership.
How does it drive when its rolling?0 -

This ^^^^^
For what it's worth ... vibration when the clutch bites, yes this **may** be a clutch problem. Vibration when idling - if you're in neutral then highly unlikely to be clutch-related. Flywheel possibly ?????
It's "tyre" not "tire", and "petrol" not "gas" unless you're American. And 55 miles on an eleven year old car ?? :-) OK, assuming a typo and you mean 55,000 - that's still a very small mileage. If that's the correct mileage, that would tend to point to a car that's spent it's whole life doing nothing more than pottering round town and to the local shops and back. This type of driving pattern certainly will put quite a strain on the drivetrain so I wouldn't be surprised if you have got some clutch/gearbox issues.
But as Foxy-stoat correctly points out, you're going to need a mechanic to take a look and give you a proper diagnosis.0 -
From that description, it could be almost anything from a broken exhaust mount to an engine mount to misfiring on one pot to...0

Thanks for your reply.
Nothing has changed about the way it rolls, either with or without the clutch engaged.0 -
Hey,
As a car noob I'll take the jesting about my lingo.
Yeah even when sat in neutral it chugs more than usual. And when I put into reverse it locks as if it's already spinning.
And yeah 55000 miles not just 55. I think I am wearing it out due to driving an hour a day to and from work.0 -
Your description of the problem are so vague and varied the only way to find out is take it to a garage where the fault can be diagnosed properly.0

Just out of interest when was it last serviced?0

No, surely that's when the optional rear brake pack was installed ?0 -
Difficult to diagnose due to how you are describing the fault.
If the vibration is evident without a gear being engaged (at tick over) and increases as you rev the engine, its not gearbox related.
It could be the bottom end (Crank), is not running properly per cylinder (plugs/injector), or an air leak on the idle control valve (if yours has one).
You need a garage or friendly mechanic. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
