Worcester boiler guarantee

Options
Just over 18 months ago we replaced our boiler with a Worcester Bosch greenstar 30i and it came with a 5 year guarantee, however it looks like we forget to register it which could be a disaster! We are currently experiencing problems with it and this has prompted investigations into the guarantee, or lack thereof. We can't find any certificate or confirmation and the guarantee checker on the WB website suggests it isn't registered, however the one glimmer of hope is that I attempted to register it online and got a message to say the serial number has already been registered. Called them earlier and awaiting a call back but in the meantime just wondering if anyone has done similar and how they rectified it?

I assume that there is no leg to stand on if it turns out we didn't register it but worth the ask as we are seriously stressing about the possible costs to repair.

Has it been serviced annually (i.e once so far)
that is a condition of the warranty
on the plus side i have had customers who have had their warranty honoured even when boiler has not been registered
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

We appear to have overlooked getting it serviced as well - been a busy year and evidently our home appliance admin system needs an overhaul!

Fingers crossed but I'm not holding out much hope on this one being honoured.

Maybe contact the installer to see if they will do a service? I'm surprised they didn't jump on that one when they installed it.

As the saying goes, Better late than never.

On the case - phoning our plumber now! To be honest I know how busy the guy is so doubt he would be bothered about the cash for a service, however quick and easy, as he is always booked up with big jobs.

Oh well, even if we can't wing it with WB at least this is a wake up call to get it serviced and start a spreadsheet with all appliance details, installation dates etc. etc. Won't make this mistake again!

Or you can simply stick in a repeat reminder in your smartphone calendar of choice.

When I had a WB boiler installed a couple of years ago the installer registered it. Is it possible your installer did the same. If the serial number has been registered already that its a possibility.

I will indeed but the spreadsheet idea is more to log all relevant details such as purchase date, installation date, serial number, guarantee ref number, service dates etc. etc.

I have been caught short a few times when I have not had specific details to hand and this will just eradicate that in future!

Possibly, fingers crossed. Am waiting for a call back from him so hopefully i'll hear back soon.

What date will he put on the service?
If it’s now and it coincides with a boiler fault expect you warranty to be voided.
Seem you’re doing all this when there’s an issue.

I am not being accusatory. I’m simply asking and stating what it would seem like to the manufacturer. That you’re now doing this as you have an issue. Im also saying if they want to get out of the warranty it’s now very easily done.
