So will their Governments, who now get to have some of their citizens funded by another country's welfare state with no need for reciprocation, reducing their own expenditure.
Right now Canada provides full inflation corrected pension benefits to Canadians living in Britain. Not the other way around. It is UK that isn’t reciprocating.0 -
Very cool manifesto. I liked the promise that every British family will get three free miracles annually. And that every citizen will have full rights to his team winning the Premier League every year under Labour.0

Labour still have the best song...... "Oooh, Jer-em-y Cor-byn...." Pretty sure that's what matters on the X Factor thing we have having next month."For every complicated problem, there is always a simple, wrong answer"0

Likewise France gives pensioners the same increase wherever in the world they may be living.Deleted_User wrote: »Right now Canada provides full inflation corrected pension benefits to Canadians living in Britain. Not the other way around. It is UK that isn’t reciprocating.0 -
That is where the Labour Party stands on Brexit. It's very straightforward & offers something to both Leavers & Remainers. This is in contrast Tories who want to "Get Brexit Done" & ignore the people who voted to Remain despite the demographic changes over the last few years & fuller information now available on what leaving the EU will actually involve. https://labour.org.uk/page/labour-brexit-plan/I don't suppose it makes any mention of where the party actually stands on Brexit, other than, we'll see what people think afterwards and go with the flow?0 -

That's nonsense. The UK state pension is paid out from contributions paid in. It's one of the few hypothecated taxes. Not giving increases to residents of certain countries is just an excuse for mean spirited money saving of around £500 million per year. The US government makes no contribution or has any involvement in payment of UK state pensions to those resident in the USA yet full increases are paid there but not to UK pensioners across the border in Canada.Malthusian wrote: »So will their Governments, who now get to have some of their citizens funded by another country's welfare state with no need for reciprocation, reducing their own expenditure.
BTW It's not citizenship that determines who does or doesn't get the increases but residence. A Canadian receiving a UK state pension won't get increases if they live in Canada but will get increases if they live in the UK or USA.0 -

Was the Prime Moose Wrangler Jeremy Corbyn's Canadian cousin when they struck that deal?
Canada can more easily afford to give freebies to other countries' exchequers, it's a huge country with abundant natural resources and nobody lives there. The UK is the exact opposite.0 -

Never said it did. It does however have a bilateral Social Security deal, as part of which US pensioners with UK State Pensions get inflation-linked increases.0 -

Or if your team loses just keep replaying the match until you get the result you want?
