Hi
My friend went through a no entry sign in a private car park.
no one saw him but there was a anpr camera and he is really worried about this matter.
he has said there have been loads of people that have previously done it but he has never done it himself. he has even witnessed it too.
has this happened to anyone as it would be much appreicated if there was any response on this matter.

The camera is there to catch people who leave without paying and so it unlikely to be trained on the part of the car park with the No Entry sign, unless there have been accidents as a result of people trying to take shortcuts. I doubt there will be any repercussions, but if there are, your friend should carefully read the signage in the car park to see whether they have agreed to be fined if they contravene any traffic signs in the car park. If there have not agreed to be fined, they cannot be fined.
IF they have agreed to be fined, and they are fined, the best option is to pay as quickly as possible. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Tell your friend to calm down, for goodness sake. What does he think's going to happen? How is an ANPR camera going to know what direction he was driving in? In any case, a No Entry sign on private land has no legal significance whatsoever.0

Don't worry about it, it's a private car park. ANPR is for number plates so assume it's an exit before entry ?0 -

WHOOPS, these are not fines and there is no such thing as to agreeing to be "fined"
And as MSE is a money saving website it's never an option to pay0 -

A private parking company can't "fine" anyone, and what has a no entry sign got to do with parking?
In fact if the signage says nothing about not going the wrong way in they can't possibly even try to enforce it can they!
There was a similar case on here some years ago, it wasn't ANPR but the PPC tried to enforce a no entry sign on a bus lane in a private car park, they gave up as they couldn't!
Tell your friend to get on with life and stop worrying, ANPR only snaps times and VRNs, and it doesn't do that with much credibility.0
