PingIt - system compatibility?

Options
TL;DR - Does PingIt work on Android Go phones?

Long version - thanks to barclays closing bPay, which my wife really loved and forcing them to go to PingIt we have now to get her a phone that works with it, as apparently her iPhone 5 is too old.

And, as opposed to bPay, you need an App on a phone rather than managing it by the web site.

She isn't a big user of her phone, WhatsApp, email and very occasionally to talk to people, so a Android Go phone would be ideal (she also likes physically small phones)

All attempts to contact PingIt/Barclays via email get the "Sorry, we can't use insecure email to help you"

So can anyone here confirm/deny if it will work on Android Go - I know some banking apps don't

Many thanks

Eserim

Try calling them on 0333 200 1012 or ask the question on their Twitter feed @pingit

Alas, the help site answers with a stock "We cannot answer this over email reply", I don't do Twitter, and really don't want to phone them up - partly because I don't want to spend time queuing only to be told the same thing, and partly as this will drive some expenditure, I want it in writing.

Send them a message via Facebook Messenger. Otherwise, if you won't ring, your only option is to sit down and write them a letter.

Well if you want the correct answer. Then you have got 2 choices.
Confused as to "Some Expenditure" as it is a local rate call, which is free on most contracts.

Android Go is a royal PIA where a lot of apps are concerned.

One other option is for the OP to log in to their Barclays account and use the Secure Messaging facility. This should at least overcome the "Sorry, we can't use insecure email to help you" objection that Barclays had to using standard email as a channel.

Or drop the obsession with Android Go and buy a normal Android phone.

The "Some Expenditure" is a new phone - and the phones in the small (as in iPhopne 5 size) bracket are all Android Go - and as the ONLY reason for a new phone is to use PingIt then excess cost isn't an option. As is using the secure message, as we've not set up the PinGit account, as it needs an App!

You could set up a Pingit Jar on your own account for her if your phone is compatible
