Home Insurance with Emergency Cover - Queries

Hi

My home insurance ends next week and the premium has gone up a bit despite no clims in 20+ years.

The comparison sites all offer comparable insurance for 15%-25% less - in some cases including Home Emergency Cover.

My Boiler cover with Homeserve ended last week and I'm not in a strong enough financial position to continue that, so this Emergency Cover option looks interesting.

Anyone know which are the companies to avoid/run with re the Home Cover bit as I never taking this cover out before.

Most home emergency cover options totally depend on where you live, what contractors are available and obviously on the actual policy wordings detailing exactly what is provided.

My experience in dealing with issues for Insurance clients over many years, was that service offered by these home emergency companies was often a bit patchy. People were waiting far too long for contractors to arrive, when the client could have got a local contractor out themselves.

Have a look at what the home emergency cover provides and see what local alternatives are available.

You mention a heating boiler and cover for that. Is there a local heating & plumbing company that offers a servicing and emergency type contract ?
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
