i-pod problems!!

Please help me......I have 3 i-pod nanos in my family and have successfully loaded different playlists onto each one with virtually no problems. My mum has bought one for my brother and i have kindly offered to put music onto it for her so that when he opens it on xmas day he will have something on it.

I've made up his own playlist which virtually consists of all my songs as we have similar taste in music. This is where my problem is occurring. When i'm trying to sync the music onto his through i-tunes, a pop up comes up saying that songs could not be added to his i-pod because the original file could not be found and loads of the songs have an exclamation mark at the side of the song meaning that they can't be played until i locate them. All the songs are on my computer in my music folders. What am i doing wrong??

Any help would be greatly appreciated because its cracking me up.

Sounds like either the original MP3 files have been moved, (or deleted without removing the iTunes reference) or iTunes seems to think your music library is in a different place.

Check the preferences, for the location of the library, then follow that path on your PC/Mac to make sure it is actually where the files are.

If there is still a problem, search for the specific MP3 on the computer to see where it actually is and compare that with the iTunes library setting.
  • Is his ipod a newer version than yours, and has itunes been updated lately because it will probably need the newest version of itunes to run a new ipod.
