Some good ideas already, but another would be to get some cheap white mugs and get the kids to personalise with enamel paints, then fill with HM sweets and wrap in celophane

I did christmas spiced shortbread in star shapes with my ds for both sets of Granparents last year, he was only two so obviously it was mostly me, if your dd is 8 you could let her bake something on her own.

It's a nice activity for them and the granparents would be delighted. :D

This sounds lovely have you got a receipe?

I am making decorations with my god children on saturday when they come for the weekend. I have bought some of the paper mache baubles form hobbycraft. They will decorate them for their grandparents for christmas. I just put a big plastic decorating sheet on the floor while i decorate the tree, im a bit OCD over the tree so it keeps them distracted too!

my oh and their parents will sit drinking prob!
