I am doing everyone a hamper or basket this year after reading all 50+ pages of the Christmas hamper thread (now all fired up and ready to go:j ), i thought it would be nice to let my 8 year old contribute and add something personal to the hamper for her grandparents. Any ideas?
I've thought about a drawing but that seems a bit boring, I also have two teenagers and would like them to contribute something to make it special as well, would have to be something that won't cost much, not take too much time and something they would want to do - not an easy task - any ideas???

Would the eight year old be up for writing a special poem, maybe to pop in a cheap frame? We have a good family friend who babysat my kids for a while, she's twenty now and as long as we've known her she has been in charge of writing the christmas newsletter for her family. She collates and writes it all down making some of it funny, saying 'thanks' when due and 'congratulations' to any achievements or events. Also mentions absent friends, in her case her dear father who died suddenly last year. Is a summary of the year and links family and friends. Very sentimental to read and she keeps them year on year.0

If she's not overly shy, why not record her singing some songs/reading some poems/telling a story/telling some jokes and put it on a CD! Keep in any outtakes of her laughing or being silly, the grandparents will love it.
I'm a grown lady but my friend and I often have silly karaoke nights, just the two of us. I recorded one and put it on a CD and gave it to my friend for her Christmas. Her parents played it and said they hadn't laughed so much in YEARS! They still talk about it every time they see me.0 -
I did christmas spiced shortbread in star shapes with my ds for both sets of Granparents last year, he was only two so obviously it was mostly me, if your dd is 8 you could let her bake something on her own.
It's a nice activity for them and the granparents would be delighted.Total Original Debt: £30404.24

How about getting some cheap frames such as these ones:

I think you can get similar ones from wilko's. Give the children some paints, glue, glitter glue, buttons, shells (Whatever you fancy really) and then let them decorate the frames how they wish too. Pop in a photo of themselves and hey presto- finished!

What about some Christmas tree decorations - These are so easy. I just cut the dog shapes out (not the gussets and sew them together leaving a gap at the bottom to stuff them.)
