The law doesn't penalise only those that intentionally drive in bus lanes, but also those that do it by mistake.

There were signs and road markings, all of which you missed. You admit you drove in the bus lane, so take it on the chin and pay the PCN. Next time, pay more attention to the signage.

And leave a slightly larger gap between your vehicle and the one in front of you.

WOW. So many judges here who already made their verdict. It should be called JUDGE FORUM EXPERT not MSE!
Come here to ask for help in what I think is unfair as did not intentionally drove in to the bus lane. The comments about me not seeing the road and signs properly was same as not seeing the road properly when:

    -driving in fog
-driving on busy A class road with large vehicles obstructing my view
    -driving in heavy rain conditions
-driving at night blinded by vehicles from opposite direction by badly adjusted lights, using a main beam or having illegal bulb kits fitted

We all drive in conditions above and yet don't see anything wrong in that. And me distance was more than enough from vehicle in front. If I could I would post a video here but mse wont allow me

So little about me and my driving in statistics:
No of years as Chauffeur: 3
No of miles covered: 150k ( Yes, thats 50k a year!)
No of passengers carried: Too many to count
No of vehicles driven: 6 including MPV
    No of accidents: 0
No of pedestrians killed or injured: 0
No of cyclist killed or injured: 0
No of passengers killed or injured: 0
    No of insurance claims: 0
No of vehicle damaged in a accident: 0
No of paint scratches more than 1": 0
No of paint scratches less than 1": 2
No of parking tickets: 4-5 ( only one appeal unsuccessful)
No of speeding tickets: 1 (mobile speed camera - !!!!!!!s!)
No of bus lane tickets: 1 ( current one )

Any of the haters commenting here above I wish you to be as good driver as I am one day!
Sounds like you are quite inexperienced to me, that's not an impressive list.

That comment says a lot about you, not good enough to see a bus lane.

You have been caught in a bus lane. Your excuse is that you couldn't see the signs because they were blocked by... buses. And you think they need a sign for the camera - they don't.
No doubt you'll be offended somehow by the above statement and will think my advice is useless but here it is - just suck it up and pay the fine. If you really are being dazzled by oncoming cars get an eye test. They're not all driving around on main beam or with illegal lights. The next thing you don't see, and will blame everyone else for, will be a child, a nun, or a basket full of kittens!

And I am looking for that word! :money:

They used the word "may" instead of "will".

Post up your PCN without personal information and see how they worded it.

As for all the negative comments, you really are on the wrong forum. If you have done wrong then you will be told, you will also get answers to questions you didnt ask.

    Good luck.
  • I got caught in what I think is technically a "bus gate" a couple of months ago.

It's on a road I use regularly and I could've sworn there was no signage or lane markings. I went back to check and there were signs and lane markings all over the place that I (and many others*) had missed.

Apparently it's been like that for years but I'd never noticed. Not even when they introduced cameras just before I was caught and they put up a huge camera warning sign!

I thought "fair cop" and paid the charge. No excuses - the signage and lane markings were obvious, I just never noticed them...

*According to the local paper (I checked afterwards) on one day before the cameras were introduced, they had a crackdown and caught over 300 drivers!
