Best platform for regular stocks and shares isa investment

Hello, I have around £100k sitting in an ISA in cash with AJ Bell. I would like to re-invest it over a period of 1-2 years to spread out the risk. I am wondering whether I should switch to another platform to do this as I understand AJ Bell charges £1.50 per regular trade per fund.

Does anyone know which platform would suit me best? I previously used investment trusts through AJ bell but found it a bit stressful picking them and think I would be better suited to a tracker style fund.

I have considered Nutmeg as they are currently offer £1000 incentive to transfer and pay 0.45% interest on cash. I am also looking at vanguard lifestrategy as an option. Are there any others I should consider?

Before choosing a platform decide what you are going to invest in as not all platforms offer all investment options.

Vanguard for example will only let you invest in Vanguard products.

How often will you be trading? If you remained with AJ Bell and invested your £100k at say £20k per quarter to spread the risk of getting timing wrong (although you will be accepting the risk that you may obtain lower returns as well) then 5 * £1.50 sounds like a bargain to me.

Tracker style funds as you suggest are certainly a good option for you but make sure you go for a global option and not just UK for example. A global multi-asset offering like Vanguard LifeStyle or HSBC Global ranges may be options to consider.

What level of risk are you looking for in fund terms? Low volatility from something like Vanguard Lifestyle 20 (equity percentage) or 100% equity like VLS 100?

Your age and time horizon will affect this to a certain extent. If you anticipate spending it all in 5 years or so the low volatility options make more sense, if you anticipate being invested for 30/40 years then higher equity levels make more sense.

Why would choosing a particular tracker fund differ to that of an investment trust. Both require a degree of judgement given the vast array of options to select from. A portfolio should be diversified. No one particular investment (or investment style) is going to continually outperform all the others.

Once you have the £100k invested how much do AJ Bell charge? Looks like 0.25% so £250pa plus any dealing charges but capped at £30pa if you hold shares,ITs,ETF,bonds.

Halifax charge a fixed £12.50pa custody/admin no matter how much you have invested plus £2 dealing fee for the regular investment option which you can also use for one off purchases if you are happy to wait until the next regular dealing day, of which there are 4 every month.
However if you need to sell it's £3.95 for share if you use the once a month cheap dealing day but always £12.50 for funds.
