Thanks as at present they have cut our payments by £30 a week due to this element and I’m feeling very sick with worry.0 -
Sorry, I’ve just double checked and my previous post may be incomplete. I think one of you has to be working 30 hours to get the 30 hour element unless you have a child. If you have a child then the hours can be combined, that is according to information here https://revenuebenefits.org.uk/tax-credits/guidance/how-do-tax-credits-work/entitlement/wtc-elements/Thanks as at present they have cut our payments by £30 a week due to this element and I’m feeling very sick with worry.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. I’ve just got this from your link
If you work 30 hours a week or more a bonus is payable in Working Tax Credit. In couples it is your combined work hours that are counted when working out your entitlement to this bonus.0 -
The first link saysIf you work 30 hours a week or more a bonus is payable in Working Tax Credit. In couples it is your combined work hours that are counted when working out your entitlement to this bonus.
The second link says30 Hour element of WTC
Single claimants who work at least 30 hours per week will have the 30 hour element included in their award.
Similarly, if one member of a couple works at least 30 hours per week, the 30 hour element can be included. If both members work at least 30 hours, only one 30 hour element is included.
The 30 hour element is also included if at least one of the claimants is responsible for a child or qualifying young person and the total number of hours which the couple work is at least 30. This is subject to the requirement that at least one person is in qualifying remunerative work of at least 16 hours per week.
They are not saying the same thing - will see if I can find another source.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

This link says that it is only if you are responsible for a child that your hours are combined30 hour element if you work at least 30 hours a week. Couples with children can combine their hours to meet the threshold to qualify for the 30-hour element, as long as one partner is working at least 16 hours a week. Only one element is paid even if both work 30 hours.
Unfortunately I think the first link I found is misleading (most unusually for that website).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

Found official guidance
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/787912/WTC2_2019.pdf see page 9.If you’re part of a couple with children, you’re eligible for the 30-hour element if you jointly work at least 30 hours a week. This is providing one of you works at least 16 hours. Couples without children cannot add their hours together to qualify for the 30-hour element.
Therefore answer to your question depends on whether or not you have a child.
Apologies my first reply was incorrect.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
