i hope to get a new printer soon. my needs are an all in one that scans, copies and prints both regular a4 documents and colour photos. it will ideally have bluetooth as well. i also want reasonable reliablity(obviously). i also dont want the inks it uses to be a type scheduled for end of production any time soon(obviously).
i believe there was an iffy windows update in october that can affect systems with printers? is that true? i havent had any issue with windows updates but am a bit worried that i would connect a printer and then things go wrong.
i am considering this printer,

Do you need the automatic scanner feeder and automatic double sided printing etc? It only inflates the cost, there are cheaper HP Envy models without it. Not to mention other brands. I have HP Envy 4*** (can't recall the exact model) for like 5 years, but last time I checked it was like £35 new and it prints photos perfectly well (on proper photo paper that is).
HP instant ink is great deal if you print photos, as they still count as 1 page, despite using a ton of ink. not so much if you only print like 5 pages of documents / month.
Not familiar with the windows update you mentioned, but I imagine it only affected printing, not other OS functions, don't think you have anything to worry about.0 -
Epson or Cannon with individual ink tanks is all i would look at .
Epson always plenty of compatibles .

I would buy a printer for printing and a scanner (or a hang on to and old MFP for scanning) printers are meant to print, scanners are meant to scan when one breaks you don't need to replace the lot. Stand alone devices are better , printers are usually better if one purpose , as are scanners.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . This is mine:

I love it. Great colour prints, really good photos, 5 individual inks. If you want to print photos, genuine inks are best. A good scanner, wireless, lets me print from any one of a desktop, laptop, 2 phones and a tablet. Cartridges are not cheap, but if you buy from Canon direct it is often possible to buy XL inks at a reduced price with the same purchase.
I was once a designer/printer and had a more professional and much more expensive setup, previous printer was an HP for 8 years. HP did not have what I wanted, I researched many printers and settled on this one. The setup can be a bit daunting, but following the manual closely will give you the best of whichever method you wish. I used Direct Print, which bypasses the router and goes straight to the printer's Wireless from any device. As a designer, I still like to have a printer that gives professional results. The TS6150 does that for me.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
