However all of them get switched on/off simultaneously, i.e. the transformer is switched on/off. If your lights switch on/off independently, not only the transformer has to be powered permanently, but some rewiring may be needed.

For the OP I would get rid of the transformers ...as Ianto11 said.

Just thought though that anyone reading this might think it was OK to always do that - for instance if it was a bathroom you would need to make sure you didn't need low voltage fittings ....or if was a single transformer to a series of lights the cable from the transformer to the fittings might not be suitable for 240v.

I replaced the transformer(actually 2) on my kitchen counter lights that were originally halogens as that was easier than trying to change the fittings as the wiring goes down the back of the cupboards.

However before I got round to doing it properly I did manage to reduce my usage by 60% .

I have 6 fittings, but need 2 transformers because of the layout. Each transformer fed 3 fittings. The halogens were 10W each, LED replacements 1W and the original transformer had a minimum of 10W. So in each set of 3 I replaced two of the bulbs with LEDs and kept one halogen -so total 12W -and that worked perfectly for over a year. Obviously as soon as a halogen bulb went it didn't work any more.

If I could I would have had all 6 lights on one transformer - 1 halogen bulb and 5 LEDs...

(Transformers have a maximum wattage too..if you are looking at combining fittings -but going from halogen to LED you are unlikely to exceed it with one or two fittings )
