Heating engineer advice

Help folks!

A CORGI heating engineer is visiting tomorrow to service my boiler, and quote to replace the timing controller on my system and the valves on 5 radiators.

I've no idea what kind of quote would be aceptable in this circumstances, any advice on this or anything else I should be asking would be gratefully recieved.

    The timing controller or programmer may well have a standard industry backplate. If it does then fitting a new controller is as simple as uncrewing the old and and screwing on the new one.

    Replacing the radiator valves generally means draining flushing and recomissioning the system. Just make sure inhibiter is added to the system once it is refilled and the system is rebalanced.

    I assume they will put new TRV valves on all the radiators (thermostatic valves) plus new lockshields.

    Approx part cost would be;

    Controller / Programer £50
    Lockshield valves £10 each
    TRV valves £25 each
    Inhibitor £15

    Plus labour and VAT.
    Incidentally a plumber could do this job rather than a Corgi person as they are not doing any work that effects the gas supply. That said i can understand why you would be happier getting a corgi to do it.
  • thanks all very much. The engineer who arrived made me feel very confident so lets wait and see what this quote says!
