Apologies if covered elsewhere. I am considering a video doorbell but im concerned about monthly subscriptions. Are there any that you dont have to subscribe to? Or any alternatives? My home is pretty secure ie locks, chains etc but I do worry about answering the door when Im on my own.

Ring can be used without subscription. The sub is only if you want to store video on their servers. I'm sure most of the others are the same.

A simple peep hole will provide the same result, if you are only worried about answering the door without seeing who is on the other end and is cheaper and easier to use.

I have a glass door on the porch which I keep locked and another obscure glass door inside so its difficult to see who is outside.

loads of doorbell cameras on aliexpress etc, at a fraction of the cost of the well known brands, that you can use via a smart phone etc
