0% balance transfers

Hi peeps,
Right I have 3600 on Halifax cc and 2800 on mbna. The mbna is at 8.9% but Halifax is 21.9%. I want to transfer to 0% transfer balance as much as possible. If I get a 0% card and max it out on a balance transfer will it affect my credit score, if not how long before I should apply for second/third 0% balance transfer card? If I could get on these cards I should be able to clear balances to more sensible limits within 2 years disasters allowing!

  • Any change will affect your credit score, but that doesn't matter, because it's nothing to do with lending criteria.

If the first card has an insufficient limit, apply for another. Once declined, leave it a month or so.
  • Thank you. So ur suggesting as I was accepted for the first one and transferred as much as I was able, to wait a month or so to transfer to the other balances. Do u know which other 0% BT will help with getting a BT from mbna at 8.9% to a 0% card?

It is suggested that you should apply for a 0% balance transfer card and see what limit you get.
If the limit is sufficient, transfer it all at the same time.
If the limit is insufficient transfer as much as possible transferring the higher interest balance first then apply for a second card a month or so later to transfer the rest.
Any balance transfer card will do other than cards issued by Tesco or MBNA.
