Needing help on disabled blue badge

I know this is probably a really stupid question but is there a way of telling if a blue badge is still in date or whether its an old one?

Here's the story. My parents have just returned home from our local town center and have had a parking fine. The reason its stating is "Parking in a designated disabled persons parking place without displaying a valid disabled persons badge in the prescribed manner". Now, my father DID put out his badge, set the correct time and also paid for his parking ticket. Both were on show. After looking at the pictures taking by the traffic warden, the parking ticket is covering the 20 on the 2020 date on the blue badge. Surely theres a way of finding out if our blue badge is still valid???

Do you mean by the traffic warden?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    No need.

All the driver does is submit an appeal to the Council, with a photocopy of the Blue Badge, and ask them to use the discretion they have to cancel the PCN in view of the valid Blue Badge which was displayed and for the avoidance of doubt, here's a copy of it.

Councils cancel PCNs the first time, for a Blue Badge holder. I did that myself 2 years ago and had a chat with the traffic 'warden' about it at the time and we had a chuckle when I said I 'knew' this was Council policy and wasn't the slightest bit concerned, and he agreed! Smiles all round.

Not all councils are as compliant CM. I was given a ticket by Reading Borough Council for parking in a residents' space only when I was almost crippled by arthritis. I was displaying a BB.

The council refused to cancel. I threatened them with a disability discrimination action and they still refused to budge. I won at PATAS but the LGO refused to handle the complaint as the PCN had been cancelled at appeal.

I recently won against them again at appeal when I was ticketed for an alleged bus lane infringement.

    Legendary wins, TD. :T

You are right, some refuse to cancel but can then be beaten at adjudication.

As you can see the end of the blue badge date is hidden by the parking ticket. It says 2020 but no way of proving it. Do these blue badges have unique numbers that prove its still valid? The pic was taken by the traffic warden.

Yes, the CEO ('warden') can check if Blue Badges are valid. They just didn't, or wanted to issue a penalty anyway to keep their quota up.

There is nothing more to add - my advice WILL win the appeal.

When you make the appeal add that the Parking Weasel failed to perform due diligence.
