Advice needed Damp In Rented Property

Hi,

I need some advice any greatly appreciated.

I am in a rented property and have been there for nearly 3 years. From the beginning I have had problems with condensation and damp which I reported, anyone they sent out all said the same thing, no insulation and rotten windows.

I have followed every single bit of advice given concerning condensation but I am fighting a loosing battle. The problems are only in one room in the flat all the others are fine, they get a little condensation on the windows but what I feel is normal given the age of the building and the windows. I think there could be an underlying problem that is contributing to the damp, it got into my bed, and furniture has ruined clothing and shoes and no matter what I do it comes back.

I have documented all this and taken photos on numerous occasions and sent to the Landlord nothing is being done, I was told they were going to replace the windows but I have now found out that is not going to happen.

My question is do I stand anywhere in asking for compensation for my property that has been ruined and also a rent reduction as this room quite honestly has become inhabitable.

Yes I could move but I do not have the deposit available and as a single parent (eventhough I work full time) because of how high the rents are where I live it is difficult to find a landlord that will accept my circumstances.

Any advice appreciated.
