Help please! bad smell from boiler

Hi, I was hoping someone could shed some light on my problem.
We moved into our house in the summer. In the last week or so we have noticed a bad smell which seems to be coming from my boiler. The boiler is in the cupboard under the stairs and I'm sure it is coming from there.
It definately isn't a gas smell, it is like a rotten egg or stagnant water smell and I think it only comes when the boiler is on.
It isn't coming from the sinks or the drains. I would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks.

What boiler is it? If you look at the pipework and any fittings/valves are they all clean, is there any scale or evidence of leaks?

If it's not something physically wrong with the boiler it could be a dead animal or bird in the flue, nice thought that eh?Winnings
