  • Morning all
It's a horrible wet and windy day here and we're on a yellow warning for both from midnight last night to midnight today :(. I should be glad it's not snow, that's forecast for the Brecon Beacons. So no sunbathing today .The meter man called this morning and he was soaked through, poor man he's got to work all day in this weather.
Today is a pottering day as there are a few small jobs that need doing. I also need to check my xmas cake ingredients. I know I'm late making them this year but I didn't feel up to it til now. If there is anything missing I can get it tomorrow when I go for milk and bread, then I shall make them on Saturday.
I will have to study the instructions on the new DW before I can use it later. It's got more buttons and settings than I will ever need, including Steam Shine ! What happened to plug and play ?

Dumpling lots of cwtches coming your way. I'm glad Phoebe is home and safe.
Gers lovely to hear from you. I'm glad the op went well. I hope you make a speedy and hopefully pain free recovery.
TA sorry your day didn't turn out as you expected. I had great expectations yesterday too but only bought one present..... a stocking for Jasper dog :rotfl:
Scarlett I hope you can fight off the lurgy. Take care.
Speky we have a star in our midst :D Glad you enjoyed the show.

Hugs to all and healing vibes to everyone struggling with poorly feet, hips, knees etc. or daily life.
    Take care all

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's so good to hear from you Gers and I am glad the operation went well. I had a catheter in for four weeks and it left me with some bruising and difficulty peeing for a little while. All is well now though and I am sure you won't be having yours in for very long :D.

Thank you all for your kind words about Phoebe. She is still fast asleep having spent hours up in the night talking to me. I feel like a well wrung out dishrag this morning but I am glad she felt able to talk. I have made her a doctor's appointment for Monday where he will do a medication review and give her a check up. Our family doctor is absolutely lovely so I know she will be in safe hands. She is taking a week off work to recover and process and then she will go back and face everyone which will take a lot of courage.

redruby, oh your poor foot, I hope the flare goes as quickly as it came and you are pain free xx
mehefin, I had the same expressions from our dogs this morning when it was time for their morning wee. I do wish this rain would stop now. Hope your horses learn to get on and heal up quickly xx
Speky, how exciting, I also watch Judge Rinder sometimes and like the way he deals with people xx
Thankyou Molly, it was very frightening and I am sorry you also had to go through it xx

Well, I really hope today will be a nice quiet and uneventful day. I had a lady come and pick up all my yarn and patterns as I thought about my almost hoarding tendency when it came to anything knitting whilst I was laid in hospital. I decided to get rid of it as I had more wool than I could use in a lifetime and instead of being a joy it was becoming a massive guilt ridden burden. Anyway, I contacted a lady from a local knitting group who make toys and clothes for the hospital I was in and other charities and she said her group could use it. There were 7 black bags full to the brim and another bag of patterns and finally a huge bag of stuffing. She was absolutely thrilled with it and I feel released so it's a win win situation.

The physio from the hospital came yesterday and gave me some exercises to do twice a day and also I have to climb our stairs at least once a day. I've done the first set while I had a wash this morning and I shall be scampering up the stairs in a minute. I feel stronger every day, plus it is easier to move around now I am carrying less weight.

Right, I'm off so I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all...Well the lovely boiler man ahs been this morning and replaced the control unit and it is now working and heating water and the radiators. To be honest, the radiators uptairs are not much cop but the downstairs ones do stave off the cold but lovely to have hot water again. Discovered he was given wrong info when our friend from work died so couldn't attand that funeral because someone got the time and the date transposed.
Cake duly delivered and partaken of by my sewing teacher who is in the wars again. She always puts a massively brave face on it, and is no nonsense and also never stops unless at deaths door [ quite literally] but I really do feel for her because of the nature of her illness. Cake is the very least I could do.
Today I am definitely plumbing in the porch light [?!] I couldn't do it yesterday as it was too dark by the time I got back and I need to switch all the lights off to avoid being electrocuted, which is not on my list of favourite things to do and indeed on my list of things to avoid.
Not a lot else planned today. Food is fish and cabbage and stuff tonight [ we actually meal planned a day in advance this time], i have the uitcase full of clothes to evacuate from the house and I'm planning on pottering in the warm.
Tnaks all for the cakey support too, its the second cake I've made in over a year and years and years since making a victoria sponge [apart from obviously the trial run one on Tuesday]

Gers, good to hear you're on the mend and the op went well! Scarlet, no, it's the sort of thing I'd be thinking...Speky, how cool is that? You'll have to say when the episode is...dumpling, how awful. Youve already had a big scare, she must have felt awful to do that and it will take courage but somtimes things get on top of you, so I'm glad she's still around to have to dig down for some. TA, man plans, god laughs etc.. At least you tranposed your shopping to a different place and were successful! Mehefin, sorry about your neightbour and hope you're taking it easy. Shame you can't smack horses on the nise and tell them no....ruby, hope it eases off soon. nanny, my sister sent me a vidoe of it snowing last night and she's in SW...look out! Hey everyone reading along...Topcat Thursday!

  • Hi all not been on here for ages.
I used to be a regular.
I know that Cranky posted on here last year to update you all on Noah not being with us anymore. A few of you messaged me following that and I’m very grateful.
Just to answer some questions, he was autistic as you know and struggled with his mental health as he got older.
After a couple of suicide attempts and years of camhs he took his own life last August aged 15 by jumping .
It was a horrific time and it’s taking some getting over.
As he was a proud gay activist we have set up a Noah Lomax fund with a local LGBT charity and up to now have raised £14000 and it pays for private counselling for their young people and a hardship fund.
Apart from that we are bobbing along as you have to do.
Baby girl is now 6. She is autistic too and we home school her so that helps give life a focus .

NPM - Im so sorry about Noah you must be devastated. My heart goes out to you all x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • NPM I certainly remember Cranky's post last year telling us about the tragic loss of your Noah. I often thought about you all. Particularly as he was just the same age as my eldest DGD and we couldn't imagine what life would be like if we were in a similar position.

You are doing amazingly well with your fundraising and I wish you continued success with it, much love xx

Glad that your op is safely over Gers......you will soon be home and getting better every day.

Very cold here today, I have had to walk around the house inside and out after my walk with OH as my hip is really painful at. present.

NPM....lovely to see you, I saw Cranky's post and have often thought of you since....you were a wonderful mother to Noah and are doing so well with fund raising in his memory.

Dumpling.......I am sorry that life is so difficult in your life at present, I hope that things will improve for you and your family soon.

Keep yourselves safe, warm and dry everybody
