Storage unit flood damage

I don't know if this is the right place to post....

All the ground floor units in our storage facility were flooded over the weekend (Fri night/early Sat morning) but they only bothered to tell us at 2:30pm yesterday (Tues).

Their free insurance only covered fire and theft, which is fine, we accept we've lost some stuff that can't be salvaged BUT there are other items in there which are now beyond saving purely because of the delay in letting us know. Items that were stored in big plastic storage boxes that filled up with water and then couldn't drain away. So they've been fully submerged in dirty river water for 4 days.

Is there any way we can make them accountable for this??

Look at terms and conditions of your storage agreement. Was there a good reason they did not contact you earlier?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

It could be that they were unable to get into the facility to assess the damage till then.
Given the flooding was well publicised from Friday night on wards.
Did you not think to check with them?

I have to agree tbh, with everything being so well covered in the news and with you probably living near to the site you must have know about the possibility of this happening.
