Tradesmen damaged upstairs wiring

Looking for some advice.
I had a loft company come to board the loft, enlarge the hatch, install a loft ladder and remove some waste. Unfortunately immediately after installation was complete the lighting tripped out upstairs and hasn't worked since.
I got an electrician to come out the next day who said that there must have been a wire damaged by the loft boarding. I fed this info back to loft company who dragged their feet in acknowledging any sort of issue and have not followed through on any promises to come and sort the issue. They also did not remove the waste which was part of the quote.
The works were paid for on debit card (silly, I know). I intend to raise a chargeback claim for some of the amount if I get no response from the tradesmen in the next couple of days, as it has been nearly a month without any progress. Is this the best course of action or am I missing something?

The last thing you want is the loft company bodging it, get the electrician to fix it and send them the bill.0
