Claiming VAT from new build then selling

I am building a new house which should be finished before the end of this year and then I intend to claim VAT back. However my boss has just hinted at promotion next year which would mean working in a different part of the country. My intention is to live in the house but how would HMRC view me selling 12 months later or renting it out if I need to move? I have called HMRC but have had 2 different answers to this question.

Moving in before completion
This is normal, keep a copy of the first Council Tax assessment/valuation as the occupation date is important. You don’t have to do all the work yourself and you don’t have to live in the completed property. However, be aware there may be capital gains tax implications.
Sounds like they dont care what you do with the property after completion0 -
This is from the HMRC site, it's the form and guidance notes

I've only skim read it but there does not seem to be a minimum time that you have to reside in the property0
