Post Office Onlne Loyalty Saver Account.

My wife had an email saying her (high!) interest rate period was coming to an end and gave various suggestions on different accounts one of which which was the one in my heading with a rate of 1.35% and no bonus ending after 12 month. So I went online today to open the account but there is no mention of this account on their website. Any help on what to do would be appreciated.

According to https://www.postoffice.co.uk/savings-accounts/interest-rates, it's a product available only to existing savings customers (hence the name I suppose), so if she's a customer and you're not (?) then you won't be able to open one.

In terms of exactly how an existing customer can open one, are there instructions in the email?

Thanks, but she logged in to her account, and there were no options to open or transfer money to this new account. The email states to login and the options are there. But they are not!

if i log into my account and scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a graphic on a blue background of a pair of hands holding a child's drawing of a plant and to the left of that some text saying "hey (my name) your money's growing nicely, no matter what you've got your eye on, we could help keep you on track. We've come up with some great ways to save" and below that a red box with the words: "find out more". clicking on that then takes you to a new page with an option to open the loyalty saver (and some other stuff)

i tried to post a link directly to the relevant page but it just brings up their technical difficulties page.
  • Hi,

maybe the 'Loyalty Account' is only on offer to those who have an account coming to an end, think they notify about a month before that happens.

Thanks. There's nothing at all like that when I log in, just a big heading "Your money", followed by a link to my savings account.

If I select "Online Products" (above the red line, I'm offered Online Saver, Online Bond & Online ISA. No mention of Loyalty Saver.

    Hi,

That could be it. Mine lost its bonus ages ago but as I don't actually use it as a savings account, ;) it doesn't really matter.

I hope they wouldn't have the nerve to tell me "my money is growing nicely" when its attracting 0.25%:rotfl:

yes, checked things this morning, that's all I get, no option to switch to Loyalty.

Just need to wait and see what happens when my fix comes to an end.

just to add that there is now available a new issue 8 online loyalty saver account paying 1.44% AER, (issue 7 was 1.35%) although this is only available to existing customers.
    https://www.postoffice.co.uk/savings-accounts/interest-rates
(there is also a new issue 42 online saver at 1.38% open to anyone)

    Thanks for that.

If I was using PO for savings, I would probably go for that. However, I won’t risk the inevitable DD issues for an additional few pence;)
