I had a look at the EDF Blue+PP May18 and it worked out to be a huge 22% increase over the Apr18 tariff. The Big Switch 7 can't be much cop if this EDF tariff is better !

Is that what they describe as 'EDF Energy's Blue+Price Protection May18 tariff' (fixed until 31 May 2018)?

No, Blue+ Fixed Price June 2018. Not available on the comparison sites but considerably cheaper than that May fix, £270 in my case. For me it comes in at the same price as the dual fuel collective but the gas is cheap and electric expensive, they will do just gas though.

Puzzled. Cheap Energy Club/MSE states you can leave penalty-free 50 days before contract ends.

Both Ofgem and Which? say 42-49 days:

You will receive a notice 42-49 days before the end date of your fixed term tariff to inform you that your tariff is coming to an end. Should you choose to switch after this point, suppliers can’t charge you a termination fee.

Where does MSE get its 50 days from?

It's 49 days, but CEC takes a day to pass your application over to the supplier ;)

But even allowing for that, Ofgem and Which? still say 42-49 days. If they're right (and surely Ofgem should know what they're talking about) switching between 42 and 48 days before the end of the contract risks a penalty.

Can't find that one, even on the EDF site - perhaps it's no longer available?

They told me it was only available to expiring Blue+ Fixed price May 2017 customers. Strangly it works out just cheaper than the Cheap Energy Club switch.....
