Has anyone received their crate of wine through USwitch? When it said Virgin wines alarm bells have rung. I've had their voucher for a free case of wine before with other purchases but you have to spend £50 on other wine in their list to qualify.
I'm also extra cautious because last time I switched through uswitch the web site crashed before I was able to apply. I went back to home and re-applied. This was a different link to the one on MSE so I couldn't qualify for the free bottle of champagne advertised which was gauling.0 -
Hi, I don't know about the wine offer but I switched last week from British Gas to EDF. I have saved around £130 a year for the dual fuel and I will have £100!!! in 90 days payed into the account - £75 goes into the electricity account and £25 to the gas account! That beats £30 of wine!!
I have to be honest and say I never had any problems with British Gas but they come around 4th / 5th on the pricing comparison sites - hence the move!
Anyone got any good or bad comments about EDF??? :j0 -
I got a letter from E.on yesterday saying that my fixed deal was coming to an end on 1st December.
Had a look on the comparison websites and eventually decided on Atlantic Fixed Price 3 it works out about £40 cheaper than last deal and is fixed for 12 months. There is also £30 cashback from Moneysupermatket.
Could have got a deal about £90 pa cheaper (than Atlantic) staying with E.on but it wasn't fixed just capped at 6% below standard prices. So in theory after cashback I am paying £60 pa more but if E.on raise their prices it would easily wipe out this saving (their were non-commital on the phone about price rises).
By the way the cheapest fixed deal that I could find was from Ovo Energy but the customer reviews were absolutely shocking.
Does anyone remember the good old days when energy prices were comparatively lower and you didn't have to mess about changing all the time?:TJuly 2018 - Now Mortgage Free0 -

You can compare and switch without going via the MSE links, but if you want the cashback too you will have to use the special MSE links.
I see what you're saying, Premier, but it's not strictly true. I have gone through Quidco, which means I won't get the £20 or £30 cashback that you can get through the MSE links (so in that sense what you say is right) but I will - instead - get the £80 cashback through Quidco.
So without using the MSE links I am getting cashback - and a lot more of it.
Consequently, the statement that cashback is only available through links X, Y and Z is not true, because it can be obtained elsewhere, and in a much greater quantity.

I had the same letter! I'm saving £200 moving to Scottish Power or £126 with NPower on a fixed for a year tarriff. Weighing up the pros and cons at the mo. Be nice if I get some wine as well but after my last experience with uswitch I'm not holding my breath.0 -
We just switched to southern electric but have seen that scottish and southern elec are hiking up their prices. We were not told this when we signed up last week from a door to door salesman. Is southern electric associated with scottish and southern electric? or are southern electric prices going up as well.0

No one is denying the existence of cashback sites. Martin has an article specifically on them (link already provided)
But this is about comparison sites."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
