Cashback on care home fees?

Parent recently entered care home and needs to pay significant fees, but worth it in the long run. Will probably be selling home to finance in the new year, but looking at ways to reduce the burden now so any ideas welcome.

Considering:

Are there any current accounts that pay cashback on care home fees? Looking at the main ones, this doesn't appear to be an area that they pay cashback on as they are quite restrictive, but maybe there is another? Need to pay ~£7000 every month.

Also considering if we can pay by credit card (e.g. Amex - paid in full monthly) and get cashback this way, but this is dependent on the care home permitting Amex payments.

So currently looking just at ways to manage the current spending with maxed out rewards/cashback. Suggestions please...Thanks

I doubt many places will take credit cards. They are likely to want a standing order.
£7k is high, are you in London? Is this close to family?
We pay £925 per week for nursing care, so moving would be one suggestion although appreciate this depends on where family are.

Is the person receiving attendance allowance?
Have they been assessed for NHS funded nursing care?

When my mum was in a BUPA care home, they accepted credit cards, so i got cashback via that route. To be fair, this was temporary (turned into about 6 weeks) and I dont know they would have accepted indefinitely.

Care homes may require a direct debit to cover varying fees.

If you can find one more DD you could use a Halifax Reward account and earn the princely sum of £2 per month.
  • Collecting care home fees from service users, relatives, social services or court of protection is my bread and butter.

I would be staggered to learn anyone accepting Amex on a long term ongoing basis. Equally so if banks started offering cash back on care home fees.

Even cheques are frowned upon given banking charges these days.

My late Mothers CH we had to set up a direct debit and it had to be every 20 days as they worked on 4-week cycles. The only time they took a cheque was when she entered the CH and they wanted an upfront payment to cover the first 10 days. Not surprised on the £7K fee as some around here (Bucks) are charging £1500 a week!
