That would have taken you to a fake version of their site, into which you volunteered your security details. I can't see how else you ended up with your account being compromised within an hour.
That doesn't sound like a security breach, more that you've fallen for a phishing scam.
I'm not sure that anyone would go to the lengths of sending phishing emails, setting up a fake website, etc...

I'd say it's much more likely to be a 'prank' by somebody connected to the OP.0 -
This was on several sites early in the year. Seemed to suggest the people used the same login details on other sites and scammers just used the same details on many sites and eventually they may find a hit.
A file of close to 1TB in size was uploaded and shared a while back. Contained millions of emails and passwords. Lots will be totally useless but even a small percentage of hits could be profitable for a scammer.

On the other hand, they might do so in order to get someone's password and as a lot of people use the same password on multiple sites, this alone could prove useful.
They might also be able to get other personal information to aid them getting into other accounts.
They may be relying on people assuming "it's only Deliveroo that's been hacked so why worry about it?"0 -

Maybe they did it just to annoy OP?0 -

On 5th November I received an email from Deliveroo to change my password because they 'value our security'. .
My guess is that this original email did not come from Deliveroo, and the link in it did not take you to their site, but an site designed to harvest your login details so that someone can use your stored credit card to buy themselves a bit of dinner.
Why would Deliveroo send you this email in the first place? Do you still have it? Where did the link actually take you?(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)0 -
