The OP might actually decide it is safer and cheaper to get off his backside and go the outlet himself instead of constantly whining.
Or just learn how to cook.

When you did log on and change your password, I suspect you did so by clicking a link in that email. That would have taken you to a fake version of their site, into which you volunteered your security details. I can't see how else you ended up with your account being compromised within an hour.

That doesn't sound like a security breach, more that you've fallen for a phishing scam.

I'm not sure that anyone would go to the lengths of sending phishing emails, setting up a fake website, etc...

... in order to get some takeaway orders delivered to Stratford.

I'd say it's much more likely to be a 'prank' by somebody connected to the OP.

This was on several sites early in the year. Seemed to suggest the people used the same login details on other sites and scammers just used the same details on many sites and eventually they may find a hit.

A file of close to 1TB in size was uploaded and shared a while back. Contained millions of emails and passwords. Lots will be totally useless but even a small percentage of hits could be profitable for a scammer.

Old news going back several years also, whats wrong with using the outlet directly and cash at the door?

  • I think you'll find that Deliveroo don't actually exist. Because according to the OP (when moaning about Just Eat:

:D Call out of the year!

On the other hand, they might do so in order to get someone's password and as a lot of people use the same password on multiple sites, this alone could prove useful.
They might also be able to get other personal information to aid them getting into other accounts.

They may be relying on people assuming "it's only Deliveroo that's been hacked so why worry about it?"

Maybe they did it just to annoy OP?

Wouldn't it be poetic justice if it turned out to be a Just Eat employee?
  • On 5th November I received an email from Deliveroo to change my password because they 'value our security'. .

My guess is that this original email did not come from Deliveroo, and the link in it did not take you to their site, but an site designed to harvest your login details so that someone can use your stored credit card to buy themselves a bit of dinner.

Why would Deliveroo send you this email in the first place? Do you still have it? Where did the link actually take you?
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

Yes, Just Eat are a monopoly ... Deliveroo and Hungry House are just figments of all of our imaginations.
