Lvt floor fitting by SCS

Hi everyone,

We have just had LVT fitted all downstairs and in our 2 bathrooms (literally 2 days ago) and it is AWFUL. Awful to the point we have taken videos and showed them to the local store manager who was gobsmacked at the job done.

These are the main issues
•Screeding was done but hasn't been done to smooth/level enough standard. Floor is lumpy and uneven in a lot of places and you can noticeably feel this.
•Not glued down correctly - popping noises when you walk over it due to it not sticking, this is in a lot of areas where LVT has been played, not just one place in one room.
•Not layed correctly, in corner one piece of LVT is overlapping another smaller piece to conceal gap instead of being cut and glued correctly.
•In hallway, there is a big gap where a smaller piece of the LVT should have been cut to size, but just had the silicon sealant put over the entire gap. We placed a 20p over this to show size reference in video evidence.
•Whole kitchen and downstairs WC not sealed at all.
• LVT isn't joined correctly, there is big enough gaps between pieces to fit a fingernail. If water was to get into these, flooring would be ruined.
•All rubbish - including fitters lunch was just left around the house.

I was only there a couple of hours each day during fitting due to being at work and all this was picked up on when my parents and grandparents visited yesterday. My parents have LVT fitted in the living room and it is of completely different standard.

I have emailed the videos to the scs aftercare team and my boyfriend has phoned as it is in his name and they wont speak to me due to GDPR. We have voiced that we are not willing to wait 5 days for an email response that they will probably never send and we want an inspection and report ASAP.

Has anyone else had this issue ? Did it get resolved ?
This has now delayed us moving in to our first home and tbh I'd rather get my money back and have an independent fitter redo it all. We have stated we do not want the same fitter out to redo it all and the store manager have said they will not be sending him back to us.

Good luck, scs use outsourced fitters I believe and your t&cs probably state scs aren’t liable and that your contract is with whoever fits it

To get fastest response, leave a 1* review on trustpilot with detailed description and tweet photos at them. That’s the only way stuff got moving for usb
  • thanks! I know, we understand all this but the guarantee in our contract covers both parts and labour so if it's bad they will send someone else to put it right..

I just think though if this one did it so bad are all the other fitters they get to do it going to be just as bad! Me and my boyfriend will be on the phone every day and sending constant emails, aswell as leaving an awful review. The whole journey with SCS hasnt been great at all and this has just been the icing on the cake tbh..

it doesn't matter if SCS used outsourced fitters, if the OP paid SCS for the fitting it is SCS that are liable. get onto their twitter account asap with pics and a reasonable description of the faults (not an abusive rant), and this should be dealt with speedily.

That would be my take also. The OP paid SCS for flooring and installation. SCS appointed the fitters, which the OP had little say (if any) over. Regardless of T&Cs, SCS remain liable - Any clause that says otherwise would fall under "unfair terms".

OP - Did you pay any part of the bill by credit card ?
If so, the credit card company would be jointly liable and you can raise a dispute with them. In turn the CC Co. should put pressure on SCS to resolve the issue.
