False wall help

Afternoon everybody,
Tried contacting the local council are they are turning out to be a waste of time.
We live in a terrace house that was originally 2up/2down, somewhere through time and extention was built onto the back door kitchen and bathroom We currently have to go through the second bedroom to get to the bathroom, with our first child on the way we needed to put up a false wall and create a hallway and bedroom.
The distance is about 3 metres long and 2/2.5metres high. Can somebody advice what building regs we need to adhere to? As our stairs light is at the top then do we require a light going on the new hallway, is the regulations requiring one. We are not planning on having electrics putting on the wall as have ample sockets, just if we need a light. What other regs do we need? Will the council have to come out and check it?
Thanks in advance
James

I don’t think you need buildings regulations for this work, the electrical work should be done by a qualified electrician to provide a certificate.
I would question why you want this a corridor takes up a lot of space. The baby will probably sleep in your room then until 10 or so they seem to wake you when ever they use the bathroom even if you’re in another room.0
