Hello All,

Hoping someone can help me out with some advice!

I have two boy maine coon cats. One is 1yr 4 months and one is 17 weeks.

They are both having runny tummy's currently been like this for a few weeks! Been to vet and was given some probiotic meds which haven't seemed to have helped much. So now thinking about changing their diet and not sure what brand of wet food to go with.

I feed them on decent food. Dry biscuits they have is ACANA cat biscuits which they have been both been on no issues.

They have been eating Gourmet Perle cat food but I keep getting a mixed review from different about if its good or bad food for cats? Vet seems to think its fine, but the pet shop tells me it like feeding them the equivalent of McDonalds. So I'm not sure who to listen too...!!

Been doing some research and found Butchers Choice or Hills cat food as good alternatives? But not sure?

By the way I have tried cooking for the little monsters- chicken, fish, you name it! They turn their noises up at it. Too Pampered. So will only eat Gourmet and I cant be dealing with the tummy issues anymore....

Boy maine coon who 1yr 4months been on Gourmet for 1 year now he suddenly having issues- which I'm finding odd too!

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Thanks all,

Anna.

I feed our mainecoon Royal Canin Mainecoon kibble and Sheba tins. That is also what she gets when she is in kennels and we have had no problems.

Bit off topic I know but can we have pics pls (of the Mainecoons not the "problem!)
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Sorry I don't know how to upload pictures from a computer as it asks you for a web link for photo so I cant.

Since both cats are affected, did the Vet do anything to rule out a virus or infection?

Have you thought about feeding them raw? Its a lot closer to their natural diet, and is far better for them. There's a lot of information about it, from a variety of sources, but always try and check the author/origin/who's paying!
Genuine raw food can be got from your local butcher, so there's not a huge amount of £ going to the cat food companies, so they spread a lot of disinformation about it which is a shame as at the end of the day its causing your cats problems.
I moved my two onto raw food over a year ago, and I'm so glad I did! I feed them purrform which isn't particularly moneysaving, but they are so much better for it!
