Hi
Hope this is the right thread!
We have a fridge/freezer, only 18 months old, but it needs a new part. The engineer came out on the 14th November - said the part would take only a couple of days to come - but it hasnt, and it's not likely to come before Christmas. Apparently, Mastercare allow up to 6 weeks for a part to arrive and if it takes longer then they supply vouchers for you to go and purchase a new fridge.
However, this doesnt help because of Christmas. Has anyone any ideas on where I could get a cheap fridge/freezer or even hire one for a few weeks, so that we dont need to live on beans on toast over the festive period.
Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.
Thanks

have you tried freecycle or a second hand house clearance shop you could buy one very cheap and resell once yours is fixed. Is the fridge/freezer on an extended warrenty if so won't they sort something out. I bet you could get the spares easily yourself in a few days rather than 6 weeks, what make is it? I would not be happy to wait that long especially as it is only 18 months old. Have you spoke to the manufacturers/retailer to see if they can help.0

hi
thanks for the advice
unfortunately, the fridge freezer is only on a repair and protect coverplan agreement and customer services at mastercare say that it's their policy to give up to a maximum of six weeks for a part to arrive. presumably this is true?!
anyway, I'll email the manufacturer tomorrow and see what they say (by the way it's a Beko make). I'll also have a look round for a cheap-o temporary replacement, which like you say, I'll probably be able to sell on afterwards.
what a load of hassle
once again thanks for the suggestions.0 -
I have just googled beko spares and it came back with easyspares.co.uk they say they have lots of beko spares in stock and you can order online so if you know what you need it might be woth a go!0

thank you so much for your help
I'll have a look for the spare I need tomorrow on google (I think the engineer said it was the compressor that had gone done), and if I find it, I'll ring mastercare and see what they say.
I'll let you know how I get on.
cheers.0
