                    Good morning all,
I went to a family get together in Enfield on Sunday and parked as we do normally on a side road opposite my father in laws house as there is no parking outside his house, also it's a busy bus route and i don't like parking on the main road as it causes an obstruction slowing the traffic down as they filter past, although there are no parking restriction, yellow lines etc outside his house. Anyway the side road has houses along one side and i parked as i do normally between 2 dropped kerbs so as not to block anyone's drive. I even double checked before i left the car that i was well away from the 2 drive entrances so as not to cause a problem. A couple of hours later we went to leave and we've got a parking ticket PCN from Enfield council code 27, saying we've parked in a 'special enforcement area adjacent to a foot way, cycle track or verge lowered to meet the level of the carriageway' There were no signs on lampposts about parking zones/permits, no lines in the road and i was not blocking anyone's drive. Should i appeal this as i don't think i was in the wrong and if i was it wasn't properly advertised? I checked all the other cars in the street before i left and none of them had any special parking permits displayed and no one else had been given tickets several of them had been there before i parked and were still there when i left so it looks like i was singled out for some reason?

As this is a council PCN then go to pepipoo fightback forums using a non Hotmail email address and post in the council PCN section , after reading the requirements for posting queries , like scans of the PCN etc
This forum mainly deals with private parking charges , not council0

OK thanks for that advise i will post on there shortly. On a side note according to the highway code paragraph 243 there is no legal obligation NOT to park across a private driveway it is only requested not to block a driveway. This seems to contradict the code 27 violation that say's no part of a vehicle may me left blocking access to a lowered kerb. I'm confused as when i was taught to drive i followed the highway code not a PCN code that I've never even heard of. If these are law they should be included in the test. This just seems to be another back handed way of fining motorists to raise funds for the government coffers just like speed cameras smart motorways etc!!0

There is a law about parking across a dropped kerb - especially in London - it's just that you don't know about it.
As said, ask these questions on Pepipoo.0
