I was quoted £550 for 4 panel if I have it repaired myself? If I claim through MIB, would I need to declare claims come renewal, and would my insurer be able to know it?
AFAIK you can't claim direct through the MIB: you have to go through your own insurer. Also, MIB insist you report it to the police ASAP.0 -
Thanks. I cant see the point of claiming. I shall leave the damaged then as I will changed this car when ULEZ will be extended to both Circular roads in 2 years time.0

2 used doors from a breakers £150 each job done
I'm not sure having a couple of second-hand doors wrapped in bubble wrap sitting outside your home is "job done". Somebody has to fit the things, which will almost certainly have a load of wiring to be connected. The front door will also have a lock, which doesn't match the one currently on the car, so that will have to be swapped over.
Not a trivial job for a DIYer.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Did you read the first post he was quoted £1500 for the repair, so buying 2 doors from a breaker @ 150 each is not going to break the bank, my post was straight to the point and what makes you think the op cannot do the job himself, what "load of wiring" have you ever take a car door off its just a few bolts top and bottom and a plug connector that needs to come off, its not exactly rocket science and if he did need to know how to do it, there are videos on youtube that he could follow
the locks are again fairly straight forward to swap over but if the op did get stuck with them he could always take it to a garage to get them done should only take an hour so all in all the op gets his carfixed for £350 ish its a better than paying £1500 i thought this was a money saving site,
Sorry op, dont touch the doors apparently you have to be einstein to undertake any work on your own car and if you do attempt to undertake such a complicated endeavor make sure you are wearing all the correct ppe as we dont you hurting yourself removing a few 13mm bolts, and dont forget to notify vosa so they can send someone out to sigh off the work you have done, we dont want the doors falling off a few meters down the road“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. Do you roughly know how much a respray would cost. I can't find the actual colour of my car. The closest colour is black.
my reply
Where i live the bodyshop i use they charge £150 a panal, if i was you i would get 2 used doors in the same paint code and just get them fitted on the quote for £1500 is a rip off
your colour code should be in one of the handbooks that came witht he car if not see the boot area where the spare tyre goes there should be a sticjer there telling you the code or it may be on inside of the pillers once you open the doors
if you cant find it ring honda main dealers with your reg plate and ask how they should tell you,
or just go on a honda forum people there will know, on my astra the pait code is in my hand book“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society.
